Katharine Crossley is a Brighton based automata maker
She fell in love with automata via the Cabaret Mechanical Theatre at Covent Garden and have been taking courses in automata making at West Dean College for several years. She make automata mainly from wood, old tins and craft clay. Why does she make them? "Automata to me are one of life's simple joys." She has also been making clocks by commission for over a decade. Mechkathicals can adapt designs to personalise them for individual commissions. |
